Each of the Marival Resort's two sides (Grand and Club) features swimming pools accessible to all resort guests. Measuring 48.5 meters (53 yds) long and containing a swim-up bar, the free-form Grand pool serves as the activities pool. It's bordered by a 6-meter-diameter (20-ft) children's pool, a 5.5-meter-diameter (18-ft) spa tub, and a 23-meter-long (25-yd) children’s-only water park with slides and toadstool shower.

On the Club side, an irregularly shaped 26.5-meter-long (29-yd) family pool contains a swim-up bar and a 10-person jetted section. Adjacent is a 6-meter-square (20-foot-square) children's pool. Flanked by the Club side's villas, a narrow, 45.75-meter-long (50-yd) freeform "quiet" pool is reserved for guests aged 12 and older.

The resort's 251.5-meter (275-yd) frontage on the mile-long beach along Banderas Bay's north shore features thatched-roof palapas for shade. Palapas also supply shade on sundecks surrounding swimming pools.

This all-inclusive resort supplies boogie boards, kayaks, snorkeling gear, sailboats, and windsurfers. For surcharges, independent operators offer horseback riding, personal watercraft rentals, banana-boat rides, and parasailing on the beach. On request, a scuba-diving instructor comes to the resort to provide instruction (surcharges).

Land sports include four lighted tennis courts where clinics are offered (racquets supplied); a rock-climbing tower for teens and children; a small soccer field; a miniature golf course; and an archery range.

Equipped with spinners, cardio machines, universal gyms, and free weights, the resort's air-conditioned fitness center also includes a mirror-wall, wood-floor workout room for aerobics, Pilates, yoga, and Pilates classes.

The resort transports guests to Flamingos golf course, 2 km (1.25 mi) away, for complimentary clinics (clubs supplied). Mayan Palace golf course is 4.5 km (2.75 mi) away, and El Tigre golf course is 4 km (2.5 mi).

Mexico's Newest Destination is Unveile

There’s a great new destination in Mexico and now it has a name: Riviera Nayarit. With the launch of this exciting destination, comes an amazing transformation of 100 miles of Pacific coastline that unfolds just minutes north of the Puerto Vallarta International Airport which will continue to develop over the next decade. Already this spectacular new destination has over 12,000 hotel rooms, two-thirds of which are four-star to five diamond; four major golf courses and protected ecotourism.

At Tianguis Acapulco on March 27, 2007, the Governor of the Mexican state of Nayarit, Mr. Ney González, officially named this new destination “Riviera Nayarit”, delineating its location from the Rio Ameca at Nuevo Vallarta to the colonial town of San Blas including the exclusive resort enclave, Punta Mita.

The region of Nayarit

Nayarit is one of Mexico’s 31 states and is located on the central west coast, bordering the Pacific Ocean. Nayarit is surrounded by the states of Sinaloa to the northwest, Durango to the north, Zacatecas to the northeast and Jalisco to the south with the Pacific Ocean bordering it to the west. Also in Nayarit are the cities and towns of Acaponeta, San Blas, Santiago Ixcuintla, Matanchen, Tecuala, Zacualpan, Chacala and Tuxpan, as well as the island settlement of Mexcaltitán. Also belonging to the state are the Islas Marias, Islas Tres Marietas and Isla Isabel, all in the Pacific Ocean. Its capital is Tepic, which is located inland and south on the Tepic River. Nearby is the Sanganguey volcano and the crater lake.

The Spanish knew the region of Nayarit in the sixteenth century although they didn’t conquer it until the early seventeenth century. Compostela, a town in the region near Tepic was the first capital of Nueva Galicia. Nayarit shifted from being a dependency of Guadalajara shortly after that, to part of Jalisco after Mexico won its independence. In 1884 Nayarit separated into its own territory and became a state in 1917.

Nayarit covers 26,908 square kilometers (10,389.2 sq mi), making it one of the smaller states of Mexico. Nayarit is located between latitude lines 23°05' north and 20°36' south and longitude lines 103°43' east and 105°46' west. Its terrain is broken up by the western ends of the Sierra Madre Occidental mountains. Its highest mountains are: San Juan, Sanguangüey, El Ceboruco, Cumbre de Pajaritos and Picachos. Nayarit has two volcanoes, Ceboruco and Sangangüey. In the northeast are broad, tropical plains watered by the Río Grande de Santiago, a continuation of the Lerma River. The main state rivers are the Río Grande de Santiago, San Pedro, Acaponeta, Ameca and Las Cañas. The last two also form natural boundaries with the states of Jalisco and Sinaloa, respectively. Nayarit also has several lagoons such as the Santa María del Oro, San Pedro Lagunillas and Agua Brava.

Some Economy facts:

Nayarit depends heavily on natural resources and agriculture to support their economy. Cash crops such as mangos, coffee, tobacco and sugar cane are staples in the economy. There is a huge mining industry due to large deposits of lead, copper, silver, and gold which makes for a large industry in mining, making up another significant portion of the economy. There is also a fishing industry in Nayarit, but it is not as major as the mining or agricultural industries.

Mexican town of Sayulita

Sayulita is a small fishing village about 25 miles north of downtown Puerto Vallarta in the state of Nayarit, Mexico.

The pre-Columbian indigenous inhabitants of the area were most likely small bands of the semi-nomadic Cuyuteco. In 1530, Nuño Beltrán de Guzmán's account of his battle with the Cuyutecos at Valle gave name to the Bay of Banderas, as the natives carried colorful banners. Given the lack of interest in Occidental Mexican archaeology, only a small number of substantial civic sites have been identified in the region, namely at Ixtapa, Valle, and Ixtlan del Rio. These sites were most likely tributary outposts of the Aztatlan kingdom centered in northern present-day Nayarit. Like most of the greater Banderas Bay area, the sheer remoteness and thick jungle prevented permanent European colonization until the late 1800s. The ejido of Sayulita was not established until 1941 when the first families arrived from the mountains of Jalisco.

Known for its consistent river mouth surf break, roving surfers "discovered" Sayulita in the late 60's with the construction of Mexican Highway 200. Today, Sayulita is a prosperous growing village of approximately 4,000 residents. Hailed as a popular off-the-beaten-path travel destination, Sayulita offers a variety of activities such as horseback riding, hiking, jungle canopy tours, snorkeling and fishing. Still a mecca for beginner surfers of all ages, the quaint town attracts upscale tourists with its numerous art galleries and restaurants as well. The most well-established restaurant, Don Pedro's (since 1994), has attracted an international clientele for years, many of whom have vacation villas in the picturesque village.

Sayulita has a curious eclectic quality, frequented by native Cora and Huichol peoples, travelling craftsmen as well as international tourists. Sayulita is the crown jewel in the newly designated "Riviera Nayarit", the coastal corridor from Litibu to San Blas. Golf In Riviera Nayarit

Opened in March of 2002, the El Tigre is the newest addition to the growing family of excellent golf courses in Riviera Nayarit. This course weighs in at 7,239 yards and par 72 and was created by designer Robert von Hagge, the well known Texas based designer who, with this course, finds himself in the enviable position of being the most prolific designer in Mexico. In the course of carving out his challenging design, von Hagge created 9 bodies of water and used the excavated earth to turn this formerly flat piece of land into a rolling tropical paradise.

About 45 minutes drive from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport is the Four Seasons Golf Club, located at Punta Mita, the northernmost point on the Banderas bay. This Jack Nicklaus signature course was opened in September of 1999 and plays out at par 72 and 7,014 yards of the most breathtaking golf course in Mexico (possibly in the world).

Flamingos Golf Club is the oldest golf course in Riviera Nayarit and is located just 20 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport in the Flamingos development. Built in 1978 on a Percy Clifford design, this mature course plays 6982 yards and par-71. Percy Clifford is an English designer well known in Mexico for his work on several of the best courses in Mexico, including the Club de Golf Mexico and Club de Golf Chapultepec in Mexico City, as well as many other courses of note.

The Mayan Palace Golf Club, as the name implies, is located on the Mayan Palace property in Nuevo Vallarta, nestled snugly between the Pacific Ocean and the Rio Ameca, this golf course is only 15 minutes from the Puerto Vallarta International Airport. Palm Beach, New South Wales

Palm Beach is a northern beachside suburb of Sydney, in the state of New South Wales, Australia. Palm Beach is located 41 kilometres north of the Sydney central business district, in the local government area of Pittwater Council, in the Northern Beaches region. Palm Beach sits on a peninsula at the end of the Barrenjoey between the Pittwater and Broken Bay. Palm Beach is colloquially known as 'Palmy'.

Palm Beach is bounded by Broken Bay to the north, the Tasman Sea or South Pacific Ocean to the east, Whale Beach, Avalon and Clareville to the south, and Pittwater to the west. Barrenjoey Headland, which is in the north of the suburb, is part of Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park.

The headland at the northernmost point rises quite sharply from the beach to over 100 metres above sea level, and features an operational lighthouse. Although there are no public roads on the headland, the walk up is well worth the effort, with spectacular views of the surrounding area. The narrow sand spit linking the south side of the headland to the rest of Palm beach had extensive fencing and shrub planting undertaken during the 1970s to combat sand erosion.
